At Doggie Styles Unleashed LLC, the health and safety of our staff, clients, and pets are our top priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and secure environment to ensure the well-being of everyone who enters our facility. This policy outlines our approach to health and safety in our grooming business.

1. General Safety Standards

All employees must follow proper safety protocols and procedures at all times.

The grooming area and common spaces will be kept clean, organized, and free of hazards to minimize the risk of accidents.

All equipment will be inspected regularly to ensure it is in safe working condition. Faulty or damaged equipment will be repaired or replaced immediately.

2. Hygiene and Sanitation

Workstations, grooming tools, and equipment will be cleaned and disinfected after every use and ensured to be sanitized prior to every groom.

Common areas, such as the waiting area/ retail space, crate systems, tubs, and the staff bathroom, will be sanitized regularly throughout the day, and as needed.

Employees are required to wash their hands frequently, including after bathroom use and wear gloves when handling cleaning products, chemicals and hair dyes, or performing tasks involving biohazards.

3. Pet Health and Safety

Pets will be handled with care and respect at all times to minimize stress and ensure their safety.

A thorough check will be conducted on each pet upon arrival to assess their physical and coat condition and identify any health concerns. Pets with visible signs of illness, parasites, or injuries will be referred to their veterinarian before grooming if the groomer feels necessary. Anything identified during the groom will be immediately reported to the owner.

Grooming sessions will be tailored to the pet’s individual needs, ensuring comfort and minimizing risk.

4. Employee Safety

All employees will be trained on proper grooming techniques, equipment use, and pet handling practices to prevent injuries.

Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, masks, aprons, and safety glasses/ hats, will be provided and must be used as required. Any and all other PPE will be provided upon request.

Employees are encouraged to report any incidents, hazards, or concerns to management immediately.

5. Emergency Procedures

A fully stocked first aid kit will be readily available for both humans and pets in case of emergencies.

All employees will be trained on emergency procedures, including how to handle pet injuries, allergic reactions, or sudden illness during grooming sessions. Both owners, (one of which will be present in the salon at all times) are certified in pet first aid and CPR. All employees will also be encouraged and offered the opportunity to become certified.

In the event of an emergency (e.g., fire, severe weather), clear evacuation routes will be displayed, and all staff will follow established protocols.

6. Handling Hazardous Materials

All cleaning products and chemicals used in the facility will be pet-safe and stored securely away from pets and clients.

Employees will receive training on the safe handling, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

7. Client and Visitor Safety

Clients and visitors are required to follow posted safety guidelines while on the premises.

Children must be supervised at all times to prevent accidents but are encouraged to wait outside if possible.

Leashes, carriers, or other restraints must be used to ensure pets remain under control while in the facility, unless instructed otherwise by the groomer.

8. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

Doggie Styles Unleashed will comply with all applicable health and safety laws, animal welfare regulations, and industry standards.

Regular inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.

9. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuously improving our health and safety practices. Regular training sessions and updates will be provided to all employees.

Feedback from staff, clients, and industry professionals will be used to enhance our safety protocols.
