At Doggie Styles Unleashed, the safety and well-being of our pets, staff, and clients are our highest priority. While we take every precaution to ensure a safe environment, we acknowledge that accidents may occur. This Injury Policy outlines the procedures to follow in the event of an injury to ensure a prompt and appropriate response.

1. General Guidelines

All employees must prioritize safety and adhere to established grooming protocols to minimize the risk of injury.

All injuries, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately to management and documented in an Incident Report.

A first aid kit, including supplies for both pets and humans, will be readily accessible at all times.

2. In the Event of a Pet Injury

Immediate Action:

Stop grooming immediately and assess the severity of the injury.

Provide appropriate first aid, such as applying pressure to stop bleeding or cleaning a wound, if applicable.

Keep the pet calm and ensure their safety while assistance is sought.

Notifying the Pet Owner:

Inform the pet owner immediately about the incident, describing what happened and the steps taken.

If the injury requires veterinary attention, the owner will be advised to take the pet to their veterinarian, or the business may transport the pet to a designated veterinary clinic if agreed upon.

Documentation:

Complete an Incident Report detailing the nature of the injury, when and how it occurred, and the actions taken.

Include photos if possible and have the report signed by all involved parties.

Follow-Up:

Check in with the pet owner within 24-48 hours to ensure the pet is recovering and to address any concerns.

3. In the Event of a Staff Injury

Immediate Action:

Stop work and assess the injury. Provide first aid as needed.

If the injury is serious, seek medical attention immediately by calling 911 or visiting the nearest healthcare facility.

Reporting:

Notify management immediately and complete a detailed Incident Report.

If the injury requires time off or medical treatment, follow applicable workers’ compensation procedures.

Prevention Review:

Conduct a review of the incident to identify any potential safety improvements to prevent future occurrences.

4. In the Event of a Client Injury

Immediate Action:

Offer assistance and provide first aid as necessary.

Ensure the client is comfortable and safe. For serious injuries, call 911 for medical help.

Reporting:

Notify management and document the incident in an Incident Report. Include details about the injury, location, and any contributing factors.

Provide the client with a copy of the report once finished

If applicable ensure to obtain pictures of injury, what the client injured themselves on, and anything else related to injury occurrence if not already captured by surveillance cameras.

Follow-Up:

Contact the client after the incident to check on their well-being and address any concerns they may have.

5. Preventative Measures

Regular training for staff on pet handling, grooming techniques, and first aid for pets and humans.

Routine inspection and maintenance of all grooming tools and equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.

Routine inspection of all areas of the facility for cleanliness and safety.

Implement clear protocols to handle pets that are aggressive, anxious, or uncooperative to minimize risk.

Enforce strict cleanliness and hygiene standards to reduce hazards.

6. Liability and Insurance

Doggie Styles Unleashed carries liability insurance to address any claims related to injuries occurring on the premises.

Clients will be informed of the risks associated with grooming services and may be asked to sign a waiver acknowledging these risks.

7. Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains effective and complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Updates will be communicated to all employees promptly.
